Andy has been passionate about outboard motors from a very early age working on his school holidays with his Uncle Beresford Statham in his outboard business. Andy has raced boats for most of his life and he is the current World, Australian, and State Series Champion racing inflatable Rescue Boats (IRB’s) for the North Burleigh Surf Life Saving Club. This long relationship has seen Andrew grow from a young 13 year old polishing and cleaning the race motors to his current position as the Head Coach which he has held for the last 8 years. Andrew also undertakes all of the mechanical repairs and preparation of the race boats for a team in excess of 30 competitors including the design and tuning of racing propellers and boat set ups on race days.
